Pretentious? moi aussi Rob :¬)

It was the idea of being transformed by the whole experience, including both the dark and the light that appealed to me. People who are experiencing ordeals of one kind or another, can take comfort from the thought that through the pain there can be a positive transformation. I'd love to know what our 'tribal elders' (of whom I deem you one) (or anyone else come to that) think of this.

p.s. Is the IA having server problems today? or is it just me. Taking ages to refresh the page.

Hey J.H.

Am I remembering right that you are U.K. as well ? The I.A. seems to have been really slow since yesterday evening for me, don't know if it's the same in the U.S. Anyone ?

Morning Rob. I was about to reply to your question yesterday when we had the postus interruptus. A pleasure to make your acqaintance. For my sins, I am also uk resident, originally from north east scotland. Scuse me for being nosey but are you also from north of the border? We obviously share a nostalgic affection for early Hawkwind. I remember having to carry my girlfriend out of one gig when she fainted from sheer sonic overload. However, in the here and now, doom and gloom seems to be the order of the day, although I'm sure the reports of the forum's demise are greatly exaggerated. :¬)

Hi Alan,

Sorry mate, I'm a Sassenach, though I frequently holiday on the beautiful West Coast of your land. I hadn't read that interview, and as my Dead shows were years apart it took me a while to get the balance right between listening to the band and absorbing the atmosphere of the crowd, which was so different from what I was used to. The whole was greater than the sum of it's parts though.

Rob.

Wow. Never thought of myself as a tribal elder!

I always reckoned this positive transformation through pain thing was pure wishful thinking. Those who embrace suffering in the hopes of a better life here or elsewhere can go right ahead and embrace it without me. On the other hand if a swift kick up the backside is in need of being administered I'm yer man.

And yes - IA is having problems. For long periods yesterday I couldn't get on at all. Personally I reckon richbutnotwealthy and his idiotic repeat postings burned something out ...
